Colorado Springs, historic downtown

Starbucks, multiple framers, our cozy yet huge used book store,  a lovely park,  a Great Harvest bread store, gift shops and even a funky music store, all within one charming block, and also within sight of the gorgeous mountains; it's like shopping in heaven

Right- Can you see why this is our favorite used bookstore in the entire world?

Cheyenne Mountain Air defense antennae abound,  very close to downtown Colorado Springs.  Actually it makes some of us feel more comforted  than concerned.

Left - Getting the lay of the land - and yes, those purple things are massive mountain ranges.

Right - The Spanish Peaks can be spotted looking southwest from my garret window.in beautiful downtown Walsenburg

Lower Right
Looking the other way from the same window,  the "main street" corner where the red maples and park should go.

The BPOE is here along with Alyce's cafe, lotsa dirt, and the general store along with the Catholic Church steeple.

There may be some tumbleweed if we look closely.

Trains go through the heart of Walsenburg day and night.

This was taken at dusk looking south, with the east Spanish Peak at the right of the frame.

Going south from Walsenburg as one pulls onto I-25 towards New Mexico this rock formation, which is actually well south of Trinidad, pops up on the horizon, clearly visible a good 45 miles away.

Below - Different direction, different day -

Stunning sight at the end of a storm.

South Central Colorado Invitation
                              from Susan Reynolds

From Walsenburg looking north you see Greenhorn Mountain on the left and the Wet Mountain range curving around behind it towards the north, along I-25.

On the horizon towards the right side of the image is Pike's Peak, 90 miiles north of us.

A dirt road with tubbleweed and sagebrush  - but just this gorgeous daily.
