The end result was that we all were invited to create even more flat selves to go with an article written about the group project. In the end three different versions of flat Susan were published including the hot cha cha pink number below.

To top it off, flat versions of three offspring and a granddaughter made the cut for
inclusion along the lower right of the main
article's two page spread.  It's amazing
what artists can get all excited about isn't it?

Anyhow, to keep up on the latest goings on, don't forget to read the newsletter
online and even subscribe to the art updates list as well to be in the know.

After a  year working in the high desert studio I'm back in northern Virginia just west of Washington DC

The view west towards the cool blue Appalachians is a big change from those tumbleweed strewn mesas and sheer cliffs of 14.000 foot mountains. I do so miss the vistas and light in the desert southwest.

Welcome
I'm not bored though! Since returning, daughter #3 who was with me on sabbatical in the southwest has started college and is slowly finding the direction she wants to go with her life after school days are over. She's starting her third semester at a local college in late August.

Not content to let doing new things pass me by I've started a
web journal or "blog". It has no bells or whistles but allows me to be philosophize, make announcements and to also have fun. It's prone to catching quick bits of this and that and will be updated much more regularly than this page is. Dropping in to read there may be something you may enjoy doing from time to time..

And don't even start me on the subject of Artistamps! I am addicted. I hope you'll want to read more of that
here.

On the theme of togetherness, earlier this year my son visited home from his air base in Europe. He's now been snowboarding in the Alps no less, so it was a great excuse for a family ski trip. During this gorgeous couple of days in the wilds of the mountains my husband re-injured an old and decrepit knee.

Short version is that husband is still in physical therapy while meanwhile our son is doing some indoor snowboarding in Luxembourg this summer. Like they don't have enough skiing the rest of the year? I admit being boggled by this.

Can you believe it? Indoor skiing! This is just crazy. Like remote controlled gas fireplaces.
Speaking of crazy, a group of artists I'm involved with got involved with the "flat Stanley" movement and in our flat incarnations we paid a visit to the Editor of Somerset Studios magazine to celebrate her birthday.

I "wore" a great turquoise outfit made of painted tissue paper with maribou over a gold tissue 'jumpsuit".(better in flatness than real life, let me tell you).  But tres' chic, even in flatness.
Lured by the extra bedrooms in our new house plus an opportunity to save a bit of money daughter #2 moved home for a part of the year, with my sweet granddaughter in tow. We miss them both now but celebrate that we had a fun six months or so of family togetherness.
