Blowing it up Speaking of Café Press, since their format does cause the images to appear a bit small on some monitors, to help you make decisions I've begun putting close-ups and detail clips online at susanreynolds.com.
Disturbing or not, at this point I have many artistamps available for you to print out from your computer and smack on your snail mail, decoupage projects, scrapbooks and whatever else you come up with. And I've gone so far as to put them on mouse-pads, mugs, cards. . . . Well you see where this is going. There's no end in sight.

Talk back to me! You can do that with my "blog" (weblog) or online journal, where you can see - perhaps too well - the multifaceted life of the artist / mom/ friend / hat-juggler. Sometimes getting to "know" an artist, even through a journal, helps one understand what their work is about and makes a better connection between viewer and artist. I welcome your visit and comments as well. Maybe I can be accused of dancing around the layers of an artist's life, but you'll find me touching on topics from my new experiment with the Artists' Journal concept to having a granddaughter in residence, to productivity, to cable news.. It may not be riveting but if you're the curious sort, or just looking for vicarious moments in the shoes of another you can peek into the scary recesses of the Artsy Mind at http://www.susanreynolds.com/blog.html Sometimes getting to "know" an artist, even through a journal, helps one understand what their work is about and makes a better connection between viewer and artist. I welcome your visit and comments as well.
MEN! For "guy" occasions, a new section of the Art Gift Gallery has been set up to hold images and items chosen especially for the men in your life. See it at http://www.cafeshops.com/artgiftgallery/301268
If you didn't before you do now. And there's only one way to describe my recent activities. Artistamp Fanatic

I realized I was designing a bug stamp and knew I'd gone over the edge. I mean, "Chin-hair Appreciation Month" was funny but this is disturbing.
If you're brave enough to take a peek at the Cicada stamps you can find a photo to gross out your favorite squeamish office mate or 6 year old girl at http://www.cafepress.com/artgiftgallery/301268 Other stamps focusing on more normal subject matter can be found at http://www.susanreynolds.com/artistamps.html And more stamp bedecked tiles and more are at http://www.cafeshops.com/artgiftgallery/284508 |
Gone Buggy Have you ever known one of those people who start doing something and then keep at it like a dog with a bone, come hell or high water?

Art of the Week July's Featured Gallery at the online arts organization EBSQ took a look at Botanical and Florals. Their editors choose a weekly theme with complementary art for each day of that week. And while they were at it they let me know that my piece Liquid Turquoise was selected as the 'Art of the Day' for Friday, July 22, 2005 The image has been a favorite of mine and as such has made it's way onto mugs and tiles and who knows what else, so while I was surprised to be selected for this recognition I was not surprised by the piece they picked! You can view the EBSQ Art of the day entry at: http://www.ebsqart.com/ArtOfTheDay/cmd_20050722 And you can take a look at the framed prints and gift items at http://www.cafepress.com/artgiftgallery/184505

Living Vicariously through Flatness It may sound crazy but I've been playing with paper dolls. Taking off on the popular "Flat Stanley" books in which Stanley becomes flat so he can travel via mail for adventures in multiple locations world wide, a group of artists have jumped on the flatness bandwagon. Not content to simply visit each other we decided we wanted to visit the offices of Stampington & Company which publishes the always yummy Somerset Studios magazine. Growing out of that visit a number of our creations were featured in another Somerset issue . Such fun! If you're not content to simply view the one flat Susan above & want to see all 3 in the issue as well as four other pieces I submitted, you'll want your own copy of that issue. It's easy to order by clicking here or on the image at left. You can also catch some of the flat Susans on mugs and such at the Art Gift Gallery

====================================== And now, a break to play with a virtual art jigsaw puzzle. See if you can put it together and read the message in under a minute Ready? GO http://www.jigzone.com/mpc/view.php?161EI9C70 ======================================
IIt started when a friend put my face on a "stamp" from her imaginary kingdom of Bingolia. It landed in my mailbox and I was hooked. So I designed one. . . and another. I swear can stop whenever I want to. Some are for special occasions and others for no occasion. Some are for entirely made up occasions. No reason is too bizarre. Then I designed one commemorating the re-emergence in the nation's capitol of the crunchily bug-eyed and thoroughly disgusting cicadas lovingly referred to (yuck) as "Brood X". But brood X is really not here nor there - well, they were here and will be again in 17 years but you know whatI mean.
